SALIDA, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a 49-year-old Texas man has died after a commercial raft hit a rock and capsized on the Arkansas River in western Colorado.

Chaffee County sheriff's officials say the Carrollton man was responsive when a boat rescued him Thursday morning, but he lost consciousness after reaching shore. Rescuers were unable to revive him.

His name wasn't immediately released.

The accident happened at Pinball Rapid in Brown's Canyon. The rapid is near Nathrop, between Salida and Buena Vista. The river was flowing swiftly.

Other passengers ejected from the raft swam to shore or were rescued by other boats.

On Tuesday, two Denver-area men died after being thrown from a raft on the river.
